Storm Isaias Hits Trails

While Storm Isaias was cutting a swath through Connecticut downing trees and power lines, blocking roads–even causing trees to crash through buildings–it tore down numerous trees throughout Peoples and American Legion State Forests. FALPS’ Board President Ralph Scarpino and Board Member Erik Landgraf, who maintains many Blue Trails for the Connecticut Forest & Park Association, hit the trails on Wednesday to clear the way for hikers.

The trails most heavily impacted were the Henry Buck Trail in American Legion State Forest and the Agnes Bowen and Charles Pack Trails in Peoples State Forest.

Ralph and Erik enlisted more help for the Henry Buck Trail on August 17th and they were joined by Paul Hart, Helen Ann Landgraf and Tim Deschenes-Desmond.

Meanwhile, Jim Warner and the Peoples and American Legion State Forests crew did an incredible job of clearing the numerous, huge trees that fell across Greenwoods Road just north of Big Springs Youth Campground.

Thanks Erik, Ralph, Paul, Helen Ann and Tim and Jim and his crew!
