FALPS’ Annual Meeting—New Location at Squires Tavern

Sunday, September 20, 2026 from 1-3 PM EDT

Come join FALPS for its Annual Meeting on the grounds of Squires Tavern in Peoples State Forest. We’ll review the year’s projects and events, recognize volunteers, and learn about the upcoming 100th Anniversary Celebration of American Legion State Forest in 2027.

Summit Adaptive Sports Ride at Matthies Grove and North Meadows

Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 1 PM EDT

Come try out adaptive sports equipment for hiking and biking and enjoy Matthies Grove and the North Meadows in Peoples State Forest!

Summit Adaptive Sports’ goal is to “foster a healthy lifestyle through outdoor sports for individuals with disabilities in a fun, accessible and inclusive environment. Adaptive sports open the door to limitless possibilities, shaped by each individual’s strengths and goals. Come try out our adaptive equipment for hiking and biking. Summit Adaptive Sports’ programs are crafted to empower and inspire, ensuring every participant can fully engage and enjoy the great outdoors.”

Farmington River Bike Ride, Redux

Sunday, September 27, 2026 at 9 AM EDT

A river runs through them—Peoples and American Legion State Forests—and now for cycling aficionados, here’s a chance to pedal along and around the Farmington with two experts, FALPS Board members, Tim Deschenes-Desmond and Jean Miller. The route will go on East River Rd., up to Hogback Rd., then back to Riverton with a stop at the General Store, then on to West River Rd. through Pleasant Valley and back to Matthies Grove. This 12.5-mile ride is relatively flat and appropriate for any kind of bike. Helmets required.

Come visit FALPS at our booth at the Riverton Fair, Friday, October 9th through Sunday, October 11th. Learn about the projects we’ve completed throughout the past year and those to come. Find out about the different wildlife and the trees that abound in our forests. FALPS apparel will be available for purchase.
