Beautiful Re-route of Agnes Bowen Trail

The trail will be opening soon! We’re just in time for Spring flowers, Lady Slippers, Rhododendron and Mountain Laurel. FALPS’ members and volunteers have worked through all kinds of weather to complete the re-route of the Agnes Bowen Trail where it crossed Beaver Brook Road and traveled on the road for a ways. Soon you’ll be able to cross Beaver Brook Road and continue on an 840-foot boardwalk trail through moist terrain, with a wildlife viewing/resting platform to boot!

We’re excited to offer this great addition to Peoples State Forest and ever grateful to the volunteers who moved wood and other materials, working largely in winter, to make this possible! Our gratitude also goes out to the Connecticut Forest & Park Association (CFPA) and the Northwest Community Foundation for providing funds to build the trail and to Jim Warner, Forest Supervisor of American Legion and Peoples State Forests and the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) for approving the trail re-route.
