Raptors on the River

Mark your calendars for this very special event!! Many of you know Christine’s Critters from our Barkhamsted Earth Day Nature Festival which, we unfortunately had to cancel this year because of the pandemic. We are delighted to invite you to her Birds of Prey Show this coming Sunday, October 11th at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at Whittemore Grove in Peoples State Forest, East River Road, Barkhamsted.

Christine and her remarkable Birds of Prey are very special to Barkhamsted and, for the last three years, one of our own Bald Eagles has flown overhead when she has brought out her Bald Eagle, Aurora.

Please spread the word and join us. Each session is limited to 90 people and each group, whether one or more, will have its own designated space that is 7 feet from any other group. Spots are first come, first served.

We ask that that you bring masks, which you must wear until seated in your spots and when moving in close proximity to others. We also recommend you bring portable chairs, unless you’d rather sit on the ground.

These are free shows, but donations are greatly appreciated to help Christine’s Critters offset the costs of rescuing and rehabilitating Birds of Prey and her wonderful educational birds. The pandemic has prevented Christine from many live indoor shows where they get much of their funding to feed and rehabilitate these birds.

The event is sponsored by the Barkhamsted Earth Day Nature Festival, FALPS and the Farmington River Coordinating Committee (FRCC).

We’d love to see you. It’s a good chance to get outside, enjoy the fall foliage and see these incredible raptors.
