Calling All Photographers!
Help the Friends of American Legion and Peoples State Forests (FALPS) celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Peoples State Forest by participating in a photo contest focused on capturing the essence of Peoples State Forest through your lens. We’re thrilled to announce our special, one-time juried photo contest and invite you to submit your awe-inspiring photographs that highlight the natural beauty and character of Peoples State Forest. All photos will be reviewed and a number of them will be selected for display at the big celebration event at Peoples State Forest on October 5th and 6th. We want photos that will delight visitors and help impress them with the many captivating facets of Peoples State Forest over the four seasons- from wildlife, plant life, historical subjects and current recreational uses. Help us weave a visual narrative that sparks joy, curiosity, and appreciation among our visitors.
Prizes will be awarded for the top three photos:
Prizes: $600 for first place
$300 second place
$150 third place
Selected photographs will take center stage as part of the grand celebration marking the 100th Anniversary in October. This beloved gem, nestled in northwest Connecticut, has been a source of play, sport and natural splendor for decades. Since the original dedication almost 100 years ago on October 4, 1924, Peoples State Forest has been a popular and much-enjoyed destination for visitors from near and far. As we gear up for the Centennial Celebration in October, 2024, we want your photos to be a vital part of showcasing the timeless allure of Peoples.
