Finding Buds on Henry Buck Trail

It’s always a treat each year to go out with Erik and Helen Ann Landgraf to spot the many species of wildflowers that bloom along the Henry Buck Trail in American Legion State Forest. Sometimes the weather cooperates, sometimes it doesn’t but, no matter–Erik points out the sprouting leaves and IDs what flowers will soon bloom if we ever get sunshine!

A hardy group turned out for Erik’s wildflower walk (Helen Ann and Erik Landgraf on left).

Erik jokes as he grabs his reading glasses to read.

We even had a young toddler from Montreal along to look at flowers.
The trilliums were out!
Erik even educates us about the mosses, lichens, insects and flowers that sprout in old logs and the critters that might eat them!

All you have to do is look to see dozens of interesting plants!
